Yeh ek networking protocol suite hai jo Novell NetWare operating system ke communication aur resource sharing ke liye use hota tha. IPX/SPX protocol TCP/IP protocol suite ke alternative ke roop mein prachalit tha, lekin ab yeh protocol kam istemal hota hai.

Yahan kuch important points IPX/SPX protocol ke baare mein hain:
- IPX (Internetwork Packet Exchange): IPX network layer par kaam karta hai. Yeh datagrams ko source se destination tak forward karne ke liye routing aur addressing ka coordination karta hai. IPX addresses 32-bit hexadecimal format mein hote hain.
- SPX (Sequenced Packet Exchange): SPX transport layer par kaam karta hai. Yeh reliable, connection-oriented communication provide karta hai. Data segments ko sequencing, acknowledgment, aur retransmission ke through reliable data delivery ko ensure karta hai. SPX ka istemal data integrity aur flow control ke liye hota hai.
- Session Layer: IPX/SPX protocol suite ka ek session layer bhi hota hai, jo session management aur coordination ko handle karta hai. Session establishment, maintenance, aur termination ke liye session layer ka istemal hota hai.
- Addressing: IPX/SPX protocol suite mein devices ko unique identifier ke roop mein IPX address (network address aur node address) diya jata hai. IPX addressing hierarchical structure mein organized hota hai, jisse network hierarchy aur routing possible hota hai.
- NetWare Environment: IPX/SPX protocol suite ka istemal primarily Novell NetWare operating system environment mein hota tha. NetWare network environments mein IPX/SPX protocol suite ke services, jaise file sharing, printer sharing, aur directory services, ka istemal hota tha.
